I absolutely love this painting (I even wrote one of my millions of college term papers on this painting) and consider it to be one of the most iconic, at least for me, Symbolist paintings in art history. Symbolism and Expressionism are two of my absolute favorite, favorite periods in art, because they are so dark and twisty, but at the same time entirely beautiful and surreal.
I hope that whoever bought it really enjoys having this, I know I would. I just wanted to share this news with some peeps, hoping maybe you like art as much as I do?
Also, this is the quote where Munch described his inspiration, and I find it to be so, so beautiful:
"I was walking along a path with two friends – the sun was setting – suddenly the sky turned blood red – I paused, feeling exhausted, and leaned on the fence – there was blood and tongues of fire above the blue-black fjord and the city – my friends walked on, and I stood there trembling with anxiety – and I sensed an infinite scream passing through nature."
I dunno... I think this painting kinda belongs in a museum (for everyone to enjoy) and a price should not have been affixed to it.
