It All Ends

I'm alerting you now, this is a major nerd/geek post. Major. You have been warned.

Deep breath...the final Harry Potter hits theaters in just over two weeks. To quote the tag line of the film: "It All Ends." And I'm kind of a mess about it.

I know that the final book came out four years ago. I know exactly how it ends. But I'm still so not ready for the actual end. Because even though the books ended, I still had the movies to look forward to, which always added to the overall wonderful-ness of the books. And you have to admit, the Harry Potter films have be incredible adaptations. Everything is always exactly as I pictured it while I read the books. Especially Snape...sigh. How awesome is Alan Rickman as Snape? Isn't he exactly how you imagined him to be?

The Harry Potter books have been a big deal to me ever since they came out. For the last three, I actually got my books at midnight on the release night and read them straight through, without stopping. When Sirius and Dumbledore died in the fifth and sixth, respectively, I actually threw the book across the room (both times!) because I was so upset. Then I cried at the end of the seventh. I remember finishing it and actually not knowing what do with myself because it was over.

I have always had a very vivid imagination and have always been a very, very avid reader. My favorite books when I was young were always fairy tales, and the games I played usually involved witches, fairies, magic, etc. When my mom gave the first three Harry Potters, I was completely enthralled from the beginning, because they had everything I ever wanted in a book. I devoured them. Then, every two years before the new one would come out, I would re-read all the previous books, to make sure I was all caught up.

And now its over. If you've read the seventh book, you know that the wonderful J.K. Rowling ended it in such a way that there will definitely be no more books. But the ending was incredible. And perfect. Sigh.

And now there are no more movies to supplement the end of the books. I really am sad. The Harry Potter books are definitely a defining piece of pop culture for my generation, to the point were I honestly think they helped shape the devoted fans (like myself) who read each and every one with all the excitement I did. Because they are about so much more than just wizards and magic. I wonder if any books from the past inspired this kind of frenzy and if any will in the future, but I'm so glad I got to experience them from the beginning.

I really do have so much else to say about the end, but I'll stop now, because I know that some people find Harry Potter silly or just children's literature, but please admit, they have been a big part of life for the last decade, right?

I leave you with the preview for part two, I hope you're as excited (and a little sad) as I am.

P.S. I'll have a book review of One Day up in the next few days too!

Why I've been away...

Pretty right?
Sorry for the lack of activity up in here, things are pretty mellow yellow. Plus I seem to have contracted a bit of a cold, so I'm just trying to rest up because this weekend I'm headed down to Santa Cruz with Miranda to stay at my mom's house, and I definitely need to be in top form! Hopefully there will be some beach time, maybe some bar time after....

For now, I am going to take it easy, but expect more blog posts starting this weekend!

Dad

Happy Father's Day, old man. I think you're kinda cool, cause you fix things and cook me yummy food. There's lots of other stuff too, but just know that I love you and I'm so lucky you're my dad!

What I Wore (first!)

So I finally have gotten around to doing a "What I Wore" post. Please bear with me in that the photos probably aren't that great and I am still learning! (Hopefully they will evolve and become better)

This outfit in particular was for a job interview I had today; I was going for professional, but not too much, to keep it a little summery and casual. What do ya think?

Top: Anthropologie
Skirt: Forever 21
Shoes: Candies
Necklace: Tiffany & Co.

Stinson Beach on a weekday

So...Amy and I spent the day at Stinson yesterday and it was perfection. Hot, but not incredibly. Breezy but not windy. Crowded but not uncomfortably so. It was just a wonderful start to the summer, the first beach day of what will hopefully be many.

Here are some pictures from our day, though I wish I had taken more. (I might have gotten distracted by all the people watching and the ocean that was too much fun to play in...despite being really cold still)

There will be more as the summer goes on though, I guarantee it!
So far, summer is off to quite a good start...

The perfect way to spend a Wednesday

Summer finally decided to show its face up here in ol' northern California.

And I am so happy, nay, I do believe I am ecstatic!

So I'll give you a hint where I spent my day today:
Any guesses friends?

Tomorrow I promise a full blog post.
(maybe even more than one!)

I also have a job interview tomorrow afternoon, so please send me good luck? I would really appreciate it!

Mr. Pollo Pollo Pollo

The weather up in here has finally started to get better. I don't know what was up with all that rain, but I am so incredibly glad it has gone away. Now it better stay away until at least October. Hmph.

Since it was finally nice yesterday, Amy and I went into the city for a little adventure. Mainly, she went through her closet and had some stuff to sell at Crossroads, as did I, so that was our excuse for going all the way into the city. I didn't get much money, so I used it as store credit to acquire a couple of "new" shirts and a REALLY cute purse (pics later).

But what I really wanted to talk about was where we went for lunch. We went to Mr. Pollo in the Mission and it was incredibly delicious. Seriously, I'm still thinking about it and how tasty that lunch was.

It's a very, very tiny restaurant, a true hole in the wall serving some seriously tasty (and beautiful) grub. See?
Mr. Pollo's specializes in super fresh, South American food, especially food inspired by Venezuela and Colombia. The menu and ingredients change every day, based on what is available to the chef (only two people work there!) and the food is presented so beautifully. I am a firm believer that presentation of a meal is very important, and this place did not disappoint. We actually ordered more food then this, but we were so hungry, that I forgot to take pictures! It was amazing!

Oh, and did I mention it's priced incredibly well. Really well. Go check it out my friends! I'm definitely going back soon...mainly because I'm excited to test the variety of this place!

Oh mah goodyness!

Photobucket
What a week it has been, my lovely friends!

You are looking at my super comfy bed. In my dad's house. In Marin. Not Davis. Cause I don't live there anymore. Hooray!!!!

I had my last days of work last week, which was so wonderful. I was so ready to leave that job. Sigh.

Then on Friday, I packed up the last of everything and my dad and I loaded up everything into a van and I moved home!

There's still a lot to do, I have to finish getting my room together, then I'll post some pictures!

This week I also went back to my old nanny job, which I LOVE, I have my graduation and party this weekend, and I'm HOME.

So, life is good.

(now I just have to find a real job. Ugh)
